Windows Live Movie Maker wave 4 offers you various built-in settings that you can choose from when you’re ready to save your movie. But you can also save your movie with a custom setting you create. This lets you save your movie at a quality level and size that meets your specific needs and believe me creating a Custom setting is a very easy process.

How it works

1. Download and Install Windows Live Wave 4
2. Run Windows Live Movie Maker from Start –> Program files –> Windows Live
3. After launch of Windows Live Movie Maker, Add some Videos or Photos and create your beautiful memories using tools provided
4. After everything done, now its time to saving your videos using custom setting
5. Click on the Home tab, in the Sharing group, click Save movie, and then click Create custom setting.
6. To create a new custom setting that’s based on an existing setting, click the Setting list, and then choose an existing setting.
7. Enter the Name of your new setting in the Name Box
8. Enter the values for your Video resolutions in Width and Height Field. * It always better to use  same size as of the source video size.
9. Enter the Bit rate for your project in Bite Rate Box. (The Bit rate of a movie is the key to the quality of the audio and video of that movie. Higher the Bit rate, Better the Quality and increment in the file size. Below is the suggested bit rate for Different Outputs. )
   
   

   1250 kbps – VCD Quality
   5000 kbps – DVD Quality
   8000 kbps – 15000 kbps – HD TV Quality
   29400 kbps – HD DVD Quality
   40000 kbps – Blu ray Quality

10. Enter the Frame rate for your project in Frame Rate box. ( *Frame rate are number of Frames display or projected in One Second. The higher frame rate a movie has the smoother objects move in the movie. )
11. Select the Audio format you want to use for your project. ( Higher the Bit rate, better the Sound Quality and increases file size )
12. Click Save and Save. That’s all !

  SmartScreen filtering feature was also introduced in Internet Explorer 8 that helps to detect phishing websites.

“The SmartScreen team has worked with several large social networking partners over the past couple years to combat this abuse and has seen success with both our browser filter and simple features within the social network that help users regain context in the midst of a scam. These features disrupt the social engineering attempt,” noted John Scarrow, General Manager – Safety Services.

How it Works

When you click a link on the New Messenger or Windows Live websites, such as profile and photos , the web request is first examined by our SmartScreen service. The service checks the reputation of the link prior to navigation with three potential outcomes:

1. Direct Navigation (Redirection)

If the website has no history of hosting any phishing scams or malware – the user is directly navigated to the destination website. This is the case most of the time – you go directly to the website you chose, with no interruption from SmartScreen at all.

2. Block

If the link points to a known bad website— for example, one that hosts a malware or a phishing scam—the redirection server navigates the user to a red block page.

3. Informational

If the website has very low traffic or has had a history of abuse, you’ll be taken to an informational interstitial page. This page helps establish context and lets you decide how to proceed.

Let’s see How it works

1. Download and Install Windows Live Wave 4 beta or higher version if any
2. Start Windows Live Writer ( Start –> All Programs –> Windows Live –> Windows Live Writer )
3. To Import your post, click on File Menu then click Open

   

4. A Window will be Appear, listing all your Blog Account. Click on the Blog that contains post you want to import or edit.
5. Enter your credentials to login, If asked
6. After that, Windows Live Writer will retrieve all your Post and Pages from that particular Blog.

   

7. Use Search field to search your Post / Pages, if required
8. Click on the post you want to edit then click OK .
9. That’s all ! Now Edit your Post / page and publish it.

You tube user can use LiveUpload to YouTube plugin for sharing videos directly from Windows Live Movie maker or Windows Live Photo Gallery to You Tube.

1. Download and Install LiveUpload To YouTube
2. Run Windows Live Movie Maker
3. Read “ How to create Movie using Windows Live Movie Maker ” (optional)
4. Click on “ Publish “ then select “LiveUpload to YouTube”, under Home Tab

Starting July 1st, 2009, when you launch Windows Live Movie Maker Beta you will be prompted to implement a software update which will extend the beta. You can download the software update here to continue to use the software without any interruption. If you choose not to install the software update, you will be unable to continue to use the Windows Live Movie Maker Beta.

Creating Custom Emoticons in WLM :

1. In your WLM Conversation Window, Click on “Emoticons button“

    

2. After that, click on “ Show All “

    

3. Now, Click on “ Create “ button

   
   

4. After that, In First Field, click on “ Find Image” to browse the image file, that you want as a emoticon. ( for example, i have browsed mine TechSurface Logo “ “ )

   In Second field, Enter a keyboard shortcut for your emoticon. ( for example here i have used TSL, so whenever i type TSL : the TechSurface logo “ “  will appear )

   Atlast, in third field Enter Name for your Emoticon, then click on OK

   

    

5. Now, You can  find your Newly created Emoticon has been Listed in Emoticon Galley

    

6. That’s all, you have done. So…Now whenever you type your Custom keyword, you can find you custom emoticon on conversation window.

But With new web-based instant messaging (IM) that is now available in Windows Live Hotmail worldwide, Microsoft is preparing to retire MSN Web Messenger service. The old MSN Web Messenger experience will end on June 30, 2009.

With Hotmail’s new web-based IM, you can chat from your Hotmail inbox or contact list, instead of going to MSN Web Messenger (http://webmessenger.msn.com/). Go directly to the Windows Live People page (also known as “your contact list”) at http://people.live.com and sign into Messenger (orange arrow in the picture below) to continue instant messaging on the web with your Messenger friends.

Instant messaging from Hotmail makes it easier to communicate and share in new ways in comparison to MSN Web Messenger.
